The increased number in teachers opposing the idea of reopening of schools this fall is supported by a wide number of parents as well. Numerous parents were unwilling to send their children to attend schools this fall for the fear of the pandemic infecting their wards. It would not be wrong to mention here that until a vaccine comes to the market, the children have a higher risk of being infected despite social distancing and wearing masks or face shields.
The teachers were clear about not willing to put the lives of the children in danger with the pandemic still infecting a large number of people across different states. They thought it better to continue with online classes until it is safe for everyone to venture out without any fear of infection.
Despite there being a difference in the opinion of people in different states, a majority of teachers thought it to be safe to stick to online classes rather than resuming in-person instructions. However, there were parents that most likely agreed to send their wards to school, if it reopens. The number was significantly less than the ones opposing the thought of reopening of schools.
The reason given was justified by the teachers as they thought it better to stick to the online learning techniques instead of jeopardizing the lives of young children. Most teachers were concerned about the safety of the children if they were to commence in-person classrooms. The teachers justified their opposition with their concerns about the lack of social distancing followed by young children.
