The full form of JEE is Joint Entrance Examination and previously the IIT-JEE, that is, Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination is normalized for getting admission in Engineering in India and the Engineering Colleges in India used this MCQ multiple-choice questions format of the exam which is popularly known as JEE for the very same(admission). This exam tests the student’s knowledge of different fields in engineering. JEE is divided into two levels, one is JEE Main and the other is JEE Advanced. In order to score well in these exams, one surely is required to study daily and consistently.

  1. Good Understanding of the Main Exam is Necessary

One has to answer 90 MCQs (multiple choice questions) and the students have 3 hours to answer all of these questions. And the exam is separated into 3 parts and those are Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, all being weighed equally, that is, 30 marks each.

One attains 4 marks for correctly answering the questions and if the answer is wrong then 1 mark is deducted. Although there is no addition or deduction of marks if the question is left unanswered. This is the basis to get admission in Engineering in India.

  1. Structure of Advanced Exam
The JEE Advance is much more different than JEE Main than you think it is. Similar to the main exam, the advance exam also covers Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as the subjects. Although there are 2 exams and are a total of 3 hours (each). And each of these exams is separated into 3 sections of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Here is how the papers are organized:

First Paper: Each of the divided sections have 10 MCQs (multiple choice questions) with 1 right answer, 5 MCQs with 1 or more right answers, and lastly there are 5 questions which have to be answered with a 1-digit answer. So it’s 30 questions for each section and the whole exam having 90 questions.

Second Paper: Each of the 3 sections consist of 8 MCQs with 1 right answer, 8 questions which have to be answered by reading a passage and other matching list kind of questions.

  1. Be Aware of the Topics that are covered by the Exam

Well, the subjects that are present in JEE Main, as well as JEE Advance, are the same (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) but the exact topics that might the covered and the level of difficulty in each of the questions also may vary in these different exams. In order to know which topics will be covered, you can even check out the official syllabus for the JEE Main and the Advanced exams. The topics are availed to you in a PDF format which is free and downloadable. Yet, here are some of the examples of the topics which you might encounter on the exam (it’s by no means is a definitive or complete list of topics):

Chemistry: Chemical kinetics, states of matter, redox reactions, basic organic chemistry principles, environmental chemistry, atomic structure, periodic groups.

Physics: Gravity, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, optics, kinematics, electronic devices, laws of motion.

Mathematics: Coordinate geometry, mathematical induction, quadratic equations, matrices, sequences and series, differential equations, integral calculus.
